Regional revolution in UK grime/rap

Introduction:

There probably has been UK artists outside London that have been displaying their rap skills since grime has been created . But there is certainly no doubt that rappers from outside London are making their voices heard louder than ever. This has certainly been helped by online urban platforms that have been created most notably JDZ media. Here are some of the rappers outside London that have caused this revolution of regional representation in grime.

Bugzy Malone

Bugzy Malone has been making waves this year representing Manchester, or in other words 0161. Some UK grime fans might have been aware of Bugzy Malone before this year; this is mainly with the highly rated views of some of his freestyles on YouTube(mainly with the JDZ media channel).  But that might not be the case for the majority of grime fans as they would have first heard of Bugzy from his rivalry with Chip, specifically with his tune "relegation riddim". Ever since then, Bugzy has gone on to release more highly viewed tracks like 'The revival' and 'M.E.N' as well as his fire in the booth session with Charlie Sloth and his daily duppy for GRM daily. Currently, Bugzy Malone has been releasing tracks from his releases E.P "Walk with me"; this is with the tracks "Watch your mouth" and "Pain". This artist has certainly been putting Manchester at the focus of attention specifically within the grime scene, and it has opened doors including a feature on Tinie Tempah's track "It's peak". As grime fans we look forward to more things Bugzy has in store.

Devilman:

Arguably, Devilman can be seen as a grime veteran from Birmingham, this is with the fact that he first gained attention for his Lord of the Mics battle with Skepta. Since then Devilman has continued to display his skills as a talented mc not just in grime but in drum n bass as well. Devilman has managed to gain highly rated views on YouTube for his freestyles and his insults that he has made to other rappers in his music videos , this has been against Chip and Skepta. Furthermore, Devilman received high viewer ratings for his track "the drum and bass father", even though it wasn't a grime track he certainly shows his appeal which can clearly crossover to when he's rapping in the grime genre. Devilman has released his "50 grand chain" E.P, which includes his Skepta diss. The fact that he hasn't received as much rewards than he should could lead to grime fans suggesting that he is a underrated mc, and the fact that he is from outside London could be the reason. Nevertheless, we see what he has next in store and how much more advancements he can make.

Sox

This is another grime artist from Birmingham that has been making noise within the urban scene , this is especially with the Invasion alert crew which also includes fellow rapper Jaykae. Sox has dropped epic tracks and freestyles that has made gain the attention within the scene as he has gained a record deal with Boy better know records with the help and guidance of Jammer. In addition, he has been showcasing his talent as a battle rapper in lord of the mics, and he would be again showing on September 23rd against female rapper Lady lykez at the 10th anniversary of Lord of the mics at the O2 academy Islighton arena. Sox has also featured in songs for huge and respected UK artists one of them was on Skepta's that's not me remix. We look forward to upcoming material that the Birmingham rapper produces.
